Dylan James with Nasdaq interviews Devon Bryan, CSO of The Federal Reserve and co-founder of ICMCP, about the importance of diversity in the workplace, mentorship and how ICMCP is working to close the minority and gender talent gap.
***
There's just not enough skilled workers to do all that's being demanded of us cyber defenders. That's the baseline foundation for why the talent shortage currently exists.
Diversity wins. Bring something different to the table, that's why it's so important for companies, respective of the industry, to be diverse in their workforce so that you can enlist and enroll great ideas, irrespective of where those ideas are coming from.
Widely reported statistics show how underrepresented our industry is in terms of female practitioners and people of color. We created ICMCP to create scholarships, mentoring opportunities, and to help with job placement so we could get more women, students of color and our veterans into the cybersecurity field.
Advice to executes: we need to include more women, we need to include people of color, so be the change that we want to see in the industry.
At Forescout, we also believe in a diverse workforce and we are committed to hiring and mentoring women in technology. For more information, visit https://www.forescout.com/company/forescout-women-in-technology/.
