Our disruptions have turned business on its head: cloud computing, Internet, graphical processing units (GPUs), and open-source software. These have created limitless computing and storage, global reach, an analytical / decision-making revolution, and torn down software infrastructure barriers. IoT, SD-WAN/Branch, and Quantum Computing will amplify these changes. Usage-based software and service information are central to customer experience, operations excellence, pricing, and product development. These changes have added complexity, with the consequent need for customer simplicity across execution environments (on-prem and cloud) in business models. This presentation will examine how big industry trends are driving the importance and use of software and service usage information, radically changing old licensing concepts.
